The Espaquest Iberian Stud is nestled in the beautiful Dargle valley near Howick, Kwazulu Natal.
Exclusivo, Kathy's Andalusian stallion, came with her when she returned from 25 years living in the UK . Once the locals had met him (and experienced his beauty, power and fantastic temperament during some local musical displays), she was persuaded to try breeding from him. Before Kathy purchased him, Exclusivo had been a police display horse in Madrid , had not been used for stud- work despite his good bloodlines. These breeds are so easy to work with that it is the entire stallions that are mainly used as their riding horses.
Kathy has worked with classical and competition trainers in the UK , Spain and Portugal with several different horse breeds and has found the tractability of the Spanish and Portuguese horses (Iberians) quite exceptional. Therefore when Loro, (a gentle Portuguese Lusitano stallion) was offered to her - she could not resist and he has subsequently joined the expanding menagerie at Aloe Ridge, home of the Espaquest Iberian Stud. read more ...
